Interfacing Motion Sensor with PIC Microcontroller
Jacaqueta Davis Brock Dickinson Michael Ledet
2
Objective The objective of this project is to build is to use the knowledge we have gained to build a low cost motion detection device that will detect a human entering or exiting an area in order to create a better security system. This will be done, specifically, with a PIC microcontroller and an optical sensor.
3
Equipment PIC microcontroller Pinhole camera Networking interface
Additional basic electronic components 3D printer Equipment
4
Basic Outline of Steps Involved
Order parts Design circuit(s) on paper/software Test all parts for compatibility Build device Develop code Test and modify until perfect Design and 3D print housing Encase in housing and present
5
Potential Obstacles There will be several unexpected troubleshooting and bug fixes, which we have dedicated time reserved. There may be some difficulty linking the device to a network interface. The lasers and receivers being used to detect the actual motion will need a lot of tuning as to not be too sensitive. Could cause system to be inadequate. Alternative power source could prove to be a waste of time.
