Industry News Electronic prescriptions contain about as many errors as handwritten prescriptions. According to a new study published in the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association. The study's conclusion: "Implementing a computerized prescribing system without comprehensive functionality and processes in place to ensure meaningful system use does not decrease medication errors." The researchers examined 3,850 electronic prescriptions received by a commercial pharmacy chain in three states over a month's time. Of these prescriptions, 452 (11.7 percent) contained 466 total errors, of which 163 (35 percent) were considered potential adverse drug events. As a healthcare administrator, you will work to minimize errors through quality management. Better training of clinical staff and tweaking of the e-prescribing programs would likely remedy this problem. There are two major resume styles, chronological and functional: Chronological Experience is listed from most recent to least. Functional Identifies and highlights skills and accomplishments you have learned from previous employment and work experiences (i.e., classroom and/or volunteer) and divides them into three or more categories according to a common, skill-based theme. This format is ideal for recent graduates who have little to no experience. Functional resumes allow the writer to focus on relevant skills rather than recent positions. These concepts have affected my thought process by giving me a great overview of the health care industry as a whole. This subject has helped me understand what it takes to become an effective manager or supervisor in healthcare. My overall understanding of management issues and concepts has increased dramatically since taking this course. I now feel very confident that this class will enable me to make well-informed well-informed decisions in the future. I can make an impact and change health care organizations for the better. A few of my favorite subjects in this class included leadership, management, motivation, and teamwork. I feel that the Health Care Management course has taught me to look at things from a different perspective. Before starting this class, I had a general idea of what my role was at work. I have never truly paid any attention to the inner workings of management, and why certain decisions are made. I also have been involved in a few group settings but never really understood the details as to why certain things were done a certain way After taking this course, I now have a better understanding to all of this. Reflecting back, I can easily comprehend the things that I never have paid much attention to. Healthcare Management is important to me and is essential for my growth in wanting to advance in my chosen field. Contact the Program Director Shanel D. In an online environment, the primary method by which you acquire information is through text. Do not just browse the text on the screen, read with the purpose of understanding. Look up terms that you do not understand. As you read, try to come up with two or three meaningful questions on each chapter. Share your questions with your instructor and classmates on the discussion board! Always have a pen and paper ready when you read or participate in group discussions. Taking notes not only helps you to concentrate on reading and discussion, but it also makes studying for quizzes much easier. Be selfish with your study time! When you log into your class, give the class your undivided attention. Make sure you have a good internet connection and a quiet learning environment. Do your homework in a place where you can shut the door and work without interruption. Do not distract yourself by browsing other internet sites unless it is required for research.
