Post-war United states
Differences and similarities of pre revolutionary and post revolutionary United states ( ) Pre-war United states Similarities Post-war United states One branch of government dictated by one person (the king) Convicts would be brought to England to be tried Appointed government officials usually by the king that common people have no dictation over Primarily a culture that involved British traditions and even British ways of teaching, songs, and art Slaves were a large part of society and though chattel slavery was not common, there were cases of black communities oppressed by just one white owner Most Americans identified with the British as they were where they descended from Women were expected to stay at home and do domestic chores as men were expected to work and raise a family Industries were primarily done by cottage industries as families worked by hand to create goods Women did not work and often had domestic roles that revolved around the household Protective tariffs designed to preserve the prosperity of the north manufacture industry After failure of the AOC new taxes were put in place to ensure that the central government was not frail and weak Three regions (originally the colonies) still remained relatively divided such as the south not willing to pay taxes that would benefit the north Results of the second and first great awakening stuck such as ideas of Voltaire The freedom of religions remained as before the revolutions and certain religions still tended to stay in certain areas Education was still flawed in both the north and south, especially the south since many people lived to far to have public schools Three branches of government with each limiting the power of another to ensure balance of power Convicts would be tried on home soil with jury composing of similar people New political parties such as democratic republicans that run for office and is chosen by the people As patriotism rose so did the evolution and development of new arts and literature such as art that depicted new American lands instead of European ones The north eventually became free and the slaves that were set free clung to black communities in the north A new American identity and many people were proud to be able to call themselves an American With the new feminist movements on the horizon women had new liberties to do what they wanted, with certain restrictions With the new industrial revolution, many families moved to cities and worked in factories instead of working at home Women in the lower classes were now expected to work in factories along the men to generate enough money to support the family
