diastole (relaxation of the ventricles, contraction
of the atria/filling)
systole (contraction of the ventricles/pumping)

3. The Lub-Dub sound:
- “lub” is the closing of the A-V valves, systole
- “dub” is the closing of the S-L valves, diastole
* unmuffled the valves snap shut producing a clicking sound

4. The control centre of contraction of the atria - a mass of nerve cells called the sinoatrial (SA) node (heart’s pacemaker).

that expand and absorb the pressure
during diastole, the arteries maintain a lower limit of pressure
systolic/diastolic (120/80) indicates a lot about a person’s cardiovascular health
- blood pressure is the measurement of force applied to artery walls
