2. What is the 4004 Microprocessor?
First ever “computer on a chip”
Contains the CPU, memory, input & output controls all on a silicon chip
Designed by Intel in 1971

3. How has the 4004 changed technology?
Worlds first multipurpose electronic building block; The Intel 4004 (n.d, paragraph 3).
It’s the main ingredient for most electronic devices, for example a mobile phone.
Allows for complicated circuits to be devised with easy user interface.

4. The brand and image of Intel after the 4004
Intel was recognised & sold millions of the 4004.
Best selling microprocessor every year until 1986 when 8-bit chips took over; Smith & Dorth (1991, p. 477)

5. How has it changed the attitude of customers?
The average consumer expects electronic devices to be compact, sleek and easy to use.
Keeps cost down because microprocessors (4004) are cheaper than fully made circuits.

6. Conclusion
If the 4004 hadn’t been invented, then most if not all technology around us today, wouldn’t be here
