Gloucestershire Voices
BGSW Area Team engaged with Gloucestershire Voices who are set up to speak on behalf of the wider group of people with learning disabilities Knowing the importance of engaging with patients… we wanted to involve people with learning disabilities from very early on in the work we were doing Would have been difficult to have had a blank sheet to start with, so it was useful to build upon the good work that had already been done Gave Gloucestershire Voices the documents beforehand so that they could prepare Set out the process in very clear steps Set the scene Facilitated small groups (keeping people on track, role play) 1.5 hours Fun, not scary and very useful! Pulled information together afterwards We wanted to make it real… not tokenism! NHS | Presentation to Best Practice Network – 29th November 2013
