The idea that organisms originate directly from non living matter “life from nonlife” ABIOGENESIS: the theory that states that non-living things can be transformed into living things. abiogenesis (a=not, bio= life, genesis= origin) In the distant past, it was thought that simple organisms could come from dust, mud and food left out.
