DNA Journal Entry #1 Grab a textbook off of the shelf. Open up to pg 337 and read the Chapter Mystery. Brainstorm your ideas about what is going on and how to explain it. What structures and functions do you predict would be involved?
2
DNA Journal Entry #2 What molecules have you been learning about? What are the components of those molecules? Similarities/differences? Predict the significance of these similarities and differences in the functioning of these molecules. Explain your predictions.
3
DNA Journal Entry #3 Explain how DNA does a good job of editing potential mistakes that can occur when it is making a copy of itself.
4
DNA Journal Entry #4 Where does DNA live? Can it go out of the nucleus? Why? How do the instructions get outside of the cell? Explain the process and identify structures involved.
5
DNA Journal Entry #5 What organic molecule you been learning how the cell produces? Where are the instructions for making it and what processes are involved in the actual production (identify structures)?
6
DNA Journal Entry #6 Go back to the chapter mystery (pg337). How does this scenario demonstrate the fragile nature of DNA? Describe what you have learned about the effect of changes/damages to DNA and the ultimate impact this could have on the organism.
7
DNA Kit Individual Final Reflection
What did you think of this activity? Did you like it? Why or why not? Explain. Favorite Part? Least favorite part? Regardless of whether you liked it or not, do you feel this activity helped you learn about DNA and its functions? Better or worse than other activities? Explain and provide examples.
