SDA – Engagement at Nedlac
NEDLAC report not finalised Social Partners, Organised Business, Organised Labour and Government engaged on the amendments at NEDLAC Key principles deliberated at NEDLAC: Repealing employment services and productivity SA related clauses and managed transition to appropriate authority Amendments which had clarity Acceptance of the need/principle of standardisation Common/shared approach to generic matters Principle of control and voting rights to be including Act should define policy and principles

Areas of Disagreement Composition of Accounting Authority of SETA
Minister must appoint 14 persons as members of the Accounting Authority who shall have full voting right Business position: Ministerial appointees should not have voting rights and should be appointed in consultation with NSA SETA Constitution: Definitions “Organised Employers” – clarity on State as employer SETA Constitutional Matters Operational Matters proposed within draft SETA Constitution

Conclusion Business recognises the need for change to address improvement to service delivery Essential that the Act acknowledge and supports the role Business needs to play A delicate balance is required
