What is the Bill of Rights?

There are 3 branches of gov’t according to the constitution
Judicial, Legislative and Executive Called separation of powers- the gov’t’s power is split up! Why? Checks and Balances Each branch has different duties to ensure one does not assume all power within the government. Legislative- create laws Executive – Enforce/sign into law Judicial- Interprets laws (legal or illegal, guilty or not guilty) How a bill becomes a law: Proposed and written, voted on by the legislative branch, signed by the president President can say no! This is called a veto. Congress can say no to a veto, this is called overriding the veto Key terms and powers

You will now look at 20 senarios that deal with the Bill of Rights. You must identify the amendment that is being dealt with. Write your answer as: amendment __ The Bill of rights activity

Stations In groups of 4 you will work on the Constitution stations
You will have 5 minutes at each station When you believe it is right you will have me check it over Stations
