Why do we do High School and Beyond Activities?
State graduation requirement Complete a High School and Beyond Plan Students develop a plan for meeting the high school graduation requirements and for connecting successfully to their next steps in life. A student’s plan should include the classes needed in preparation for a 2- or 4-year college, apprenticeship, career or technical school, certificate program or the workforce. Policies and procedures for the High School and Beyond Plan are determined by local school districts.

Lake Washington School District requirements
Rationale: The purpose for completing activities related to the requirements to life now and after high school, is to help students begin to set academic goals, and create personal plans. The primary goal throughout this project is to help students find more meaning and relevance in school.

Sophomore outcomes Personal values help define future career paths.
Different careers require different skills and abilities. Each job has different working conditions, income opportunities, and training requirements. Careful class selection relates to future college and career goals.

Junior Year Essential Understandings:
Satisfying and enjoyable activities are related to different careers. Educational Programs are ways of organizing post-high school learning. Educational Programs are designed for different occupations. Different schools offer different Educational Programs. Each College or University has different entrance requirements and costs. Resumes describe personal knowledge, skills and abilities. Online portfolios reflect the learning and personal values of the student. Scholarships are available to most students. Careful class selection relates to future college and career goals.

Senior year Post-high school Educational Programs are ways of organizing learning and training Educational Programs are designed for different occupations. Different schools offer different Educational Programs. Resumes describe personal knowledge, skills and abilities. Cover letters introduce a resume. Cover letters must be grammatically correct. The High School and Beyond Plan helps guide students to post-high school opportunities.
