Topic Ideas/Suggestions
Every two weeks you get one piece of homework. You can choose which task you wish to do off this learning menu, but you can only do a task once. You must do at least one of the tasks in bold. Crafting Speech 1.Create a set of 9 flashcards with phrases that would be acceptable during formal debating to put your point forward. 2. Write a magazine article debating one of the issues listed or one of your own. One A4 page. 3. Make a ‘for’ and ‘against’ table listing the arguments for both sides of one of the issues below or one of your own. Think of 5 for each side. 4. Choose a famous speech and write two PEE paragraphs about why this was a successful speech and what effect the language had. 5. Create a word search using key words from the topic so far. It must have at least 15 words hidden. 6. Compose a ‘Top-Tips’ leaflet using an A4 page that tells the reader how to be a successful debater. 7. If you could change one thing, what would it be? Tell me about it. Why? How would you do it? Present this how you like! Written paragraphs, video, PowerPoint…ANYTHING! 8. Create a A4 campaign poster for a charity of your choice. 9. Come up with a list of 15 motions. You can either agree or disagree with them – it doesn’t matter.
