Selecting Core Classes
Regular Core Classes English, History, Math, Science PAP Core Classes A combination of regular/PAP classes Consideration should be given to current grades and level of involvement in extra-curricular activities when selecting classes

PAP Recommendations Language Arts- Students will have independent reading assignments each grading period and a summer reading assignment. The students work independently and at a challenging pace. Texas History- Student guided projects throughout the year. PAP courses are designed to challenge students and prepare them for advanced level coursework in high school and in college.

PAP Math/Science **Recommendations**
85 or higher for yearly average in Math course preceding year 85 or higher for yearly average in Science course preceding year *Highly Recommended Math and Science courses to be paired.

PAP Exit Criteria EXIT Students may ONLY exit at 1st progress report , end of the marking period, or the end of the semester. At end of the semester, students below 70 maybe removed from PAP. Level Changes will only be made at 1st progress report, marking period, and semester.

Boys Athletics (football, basketball) Girls Athletics (volleyball, basketball) Dance I Leadership Officer Training Corp (LOTC) To participate in Athletics students must have a current UIL physical on file by the first day of school. TISD provides a date in the spring for ALL athletes in the district to get a physical at TMHS for a very discounted rate. If your students actively participates in a sport other than those listed and will benefit from enrollment in Athletics, they will follow the off-season workouts for the school year.

Course Selection Timeline
Course Verifications of selected classes (These are not schedules) February 6, verification sheets showing student course selections will be sent home with students for parent review. If any changes to your child’s course selections are needed, indicate the changes on the verification sheet and return it to NIS or OIS by February 13th. February 13th, at 3PM is Deadline for changes. No Changes will be made after February 13th. Course Verifications reflect what you would like to take in Junior High. These are not a schedule. Also, a course may be indicated on the Verification sheet, yet another course may be in the schedule, due to scheduling conflicts and availability.
