Decide whether the goal is a short-term or long-term goal Explain your decision

Here Is A Challenge! Write down three things you want to accomplish (one (1) small, one (1) medium, one (1) long) Next write down how you plan to achieve your vision. Be specific.

Can You Reach Your Goal? Is your goal specific?
How will you measure if you reach your goal? Is your goal attainable or possible? Is your goal realistic? When will you achieve your goal?

SMART Goals In order to set goals effectively, they need to be well written Edit the goal you wrote for your vision using these guidelines: Specific – State exactly what is to be done Measurable – Include how the goal can be measured Attainable – Determine steps to reach the goal Realistic – Do not set goals for something unrealistic Time Bound – State when the goal will be met

Education Goals Help individuals prepare for success in the workplace/School Examples include: Earning an A on an upcoming quiz Attending college Participating in extra-curricular activities Include both short-term and long-term goals Provide guidance and direction Enable individuals to reach financial goals

SMART Education Goal Goal – “I want to attend college.” SMART goal –
Specific – I want to attend a four year college. Measurable – Because I want to attend a four year college, I will earn a B in algebra. Attainable – Because I want to attend a four year college, I will earn a B in algebra by studying. Realistic – Because I want to attend a four year college, I will earn a B in algebra by studying to prepare me for the college entrance exam. Time Bound – Because I want to attend a four year college, I will earn a B in algebra this semester to prepare me for the college entrance exam when I am a junior in high school.

A goal that guides financial planning (Money) Financial goals help achieve both short-term and long-term goals Making decisions is easier when financial goals have been set

SMART Financial Goals Goal – “I want to buy the new Jordans.”
SMART Goal – Specific – I plan to buy the new Jordans. Measurable – I plan to save $100 for the new Jordans. Attainable – I plan to save $100 for the new Jordans by saving $20 from each babysitting job. Realistic – Because I love the new Jordans, I plan to save $100 by saving $20 from each babysitting job. Time bound – Because I love the new Jordans, I plan to save $ 100 by saving $20 from each babysitting job for 4 weeks.

Setting Financial Goals
Specific State exactly what is to be done with the money involved in the goal Measurable Write the exact dollar amount needed for the goal Attainable Determine how it can be reached Often determined by the individual’s budget Realistic Do not set an unrealistic or unattainable goal Time Bound Specifically state when the goal needs to be reached
