The numbers –1, –2, –3, … (to the left of zero) are called negative integers
The numbers 1, 2, 3,… (to the right of zero) as positive integers.
The new set of numbers …, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3,… are called Integers.
‘–’ symbol in front of a number is read as 'negative' or 'minus'.
For example, –5 is read as negative 5 or minus 5.
A number without a sign is considered as a positive number.
For example, 5 is considered as +5.

3. Predecessor and Successor of an Integer
Predecessor of an Integer is the integer which is one step to the left of the integer
or we can say it is one less than the integer
For example: Predecessor of -3 is -4
Successor of an Integer is the integer which is one step to the right of the integer
or we can say it is one more than the integer
For example: Successor of integer -3 is -2

4. Example1: Find the value A and B on the number line
Solution:
We can find missing integer using integer number present beside it
A is successor of integer -4. Therefore A is one more than -4 which is -3
B is the successor of integer 1. Therefore B is one more than 1 which is 2

Solution:
We can find missing integer using integer number present beside it
A is successor of integer -7. Therefore A is one more than -7 which is -6
B is the predecessor of integer -4. Therefore B is one less than -4 which is -5
