Bar Code Assisted Picking
An I/O enhancement for picking and filling DMAS sales orders Provides the ability to perform order picking with a hand held RF bar code scanning device Pickers only operate hand held devices No need to operate computer workstation Pickers do not need knowledge of DMAS order entry functions Provides the capability to maximize the efficiency of the picking process

An I/O enhancement . . . RF device instructs picker what to pick from where Item being picked is verified by scanning item number and bin being picked from With hand held RF device, picker is free to move and scan merchandise in most efficient manner Requirement for pickers to have computer or DMAS skills is nearly eliminated

An I/O enhancement . . . Printed pick list is not required Multiple orders may be combined and picked in single pass through warehouse Multiple pickers may be assigned to pick different portions of same order Picker is directed to pick from specific bin locations

An I/O enhancement . . . RF pickers work with “picking batches” A batch may consist of A single order Multiple orders Part of a single order Parts of multiple orders

An I/O enhancement . . . Warehouse manager may assign pick transactions (picks) to specific RF pickers Parts of a single batch may assigned to different RF pickers Picks within a batch not assigned to a specific picker have a picker assignment of *ANY

An I/O enhancement . . . When RF picker logs on to RF device Picks specifically assigned to RF picker are displayed first Assigned groups display on RF device in ascending batch name sequence If no specifically assigned picks are available, then*ANY picks are displayed.

Work with Pick Queue The Work with Pick Queue function is provided for the warehouse manager Assign orders to specific RF pickers (assignments are optional) Combine orders into picking groups, if desired Assign multiple pickers to a picking group, if desired Control the status of a picking group to be “available” for picking or “un-available” Control the status of a pick transaction to be “available” for picking or “un-available”

Work with Pick Queue . . . Move a picking group to the top of the pick queue by altering the batch name Shuffle picking workload to other RF pickers when help is needed on large and/or rush orders

The Picking Process To start picking, on the RF device Log on with user id Made sure warehouse code is correct (if not, enter it) Request next picking batch Summary displayed, showing total picks assigned to logged on RF picker, or total picks for *ANY First item to pick is then displayed, showing quantity, item number and bin Scan item number Scan bin location being picked from (change quantity if necessary) Next item to pick is displayed

The Picking Process . . . When all picks for first batch are picked, next batch is displayed on RF device Picked items are then delivered to shipping area

Work with Picking Status The Work with Picking Status function is provided for the shipping manager Used to determine the picking status of sales orders Determine who is picking what If multiple pickers are picking the same order, who is done with their portion and who is not Used to determine when all orders for a given route are picked and completed View what a particular RF picker has picked today or a previous day

Work with Picking Status . . . Review all picks made for a specific item within a single day Review all picks made from a specific bin location within a single day

Bar Code Assisted Replenishment
Work with Directed Bin Item Moves The Work with Directed Bin Item Moves function is provided for the warehouse manager Monitor replenishment requests as they are generated Make sure replenishment requests are handled in a timely fashion Assign replenishment requests to specific RF worker View who is supposed to be moving what Control the status of a replenishment request to be “available” for moving or “un-available”
