2. This month we had a school outing at Mellieha
This month we had a school outing at Mellieha. When we arrived a gardener showed us around the ‘Foresta’. He showed us several different kinds of trees. Some of them were Aleppo Pine, Holm Oak, Carob tree, White Poplar, African Tamarisk, Bay Laurel and Dwarf Fan Palm. The ‘Foresta’ 2000 began in the year 2000 when a group of people planted two thousand trees and bushes. After some years some cruel people cut off all the small trees. For the second time lots of trees were planted again to make a small ‘Foresta’. Now three years have passed since these trees were planted again.
I really enjoyed myself in this outing and I learned that although our islands are small we have our typical trees that are suitable for our climate.
