Texas Annexation Texas was added to the united states in The united states was one of the only states that recognized texas independence and as Texas was in debt from the war with mexico, annexation would ultimately help them pay off all that debt.

The republic of texas With the establishment of the republic of texas citizens were granted liberties including the freedom of religion. Under Spanish rule citizens were required to be roman catholic and slavery was not permitted. The united states was the first nation to recognize the republic of texas as an independent nation.

The capitol (Moved to a frontier)
The capitol was not originally Austin Texas, in fact it was supposed to be Houston, one of the presidents of the republic of texas Lamar, decided that the land in Austin, Texas would be good for the capitol was moved as it Was close to a frontier town.

Popular Sovereignty When you hear the word popular sovereignty, you must think of elections, people vote for who they want to be there representatives or presidents.

Sam Houston Sam Houston was very focused on paying off debts from fighting in the revolution, he opposed building the texas navy as it would drain Texas finances.

Lamar Lamar was known as the father of education and created the public school system for texas. The Cordova rebellion and the council house fight are both issues involving American Indian Tribes. Lamar moved all of the documents of government to a frontier town that would later be known as Austin Texas. When Sam Houston became president again he tried to move them back to texas in what would be known as the achieves war.

Texas Rangers The primary function of The Texas Rangers was to protect against native American Tribes.
