Shannon diversity index values for archaeal, bacterial, and fungal communities.
Shannon diversity index values for archaeal, bacterial, and fungal communities. (a) Distributions of archaea, bacteria, and fungi in tropical seasonal forests (TSF), subtropical broad-leaved evergreen forests (SBEF), temperate deciduous broad-leaved forests (TDBF), and temperate mixed coniferous-broadleaf forests (TMCF) and relationships between (b) Shannon index values of archaeal community and total nitrogen (TN), (c) bacterial community and amorphous iron/free iron ratio (Feo/Fed ratio), and (d) fungal community and dissolved organic carbon (DOC). The boxes show the distribution of values. The lower and upper hinges correspond to the first and third quartiles. The upper and lower whiskers extend from the hinge to the largest value no further than 1.5 times of the interquartile range from the upper and lower hinges, respectively. The outlier points are the data beyond the end of the whiskers. Bin Ma et al. mSystems 2017; doi: /mSystems
