75 voter signatures (previously 25) $250 nomination deposit (previously $100) Same rules apply with respect to return of deposit (15% total votes accepted)

2 Nomination process & timing changes (“fixed-date election”)
Nominations filed with the CEO (Standing Nominations): Accepted up to 4:30 pm (Pacific time) the day before date election is called 2009 General Election, this day is a holiday (Easter Monday), so standing nominations extended until the same time Writ Day (April 14, 2009) Will overlap ordinary nomination period by approx 2 hours All nomination documents can be filed during this time period including: Disclosure required by Financial Disclosure Act Solemn declaration by nominee that they are qualified to be nominated Certificate of Candidacy will be issued by CEO after the election is called

Nominations filed with the DEO (Ordinary Nominations): Begins at the time the election is called and continues to 1:00 p.m. (Pacific time) on Day 10 For the 2009 General Election, this day will be Friday, April 24 Certificates of candidacy will be issued by DEO once nomination is complete

Nomination process & timing changes (“by-election or non-scheduled election”) Nominations filed with the CEO (Standing Nominations): Accepted up to 4:30 pm (Pacific time) on Day 5 of the election calendar All nomination documents can be filed during this time period including: Disclosure required by Financial Disclosure Act Solemn declaration by nominee that they are qualified to be nominated Certificate of Candidacy will be issued by CEO once nomination is complete

5 Nomination process & timing changes (“by-election or non-scheduled election”)
Nominations filed with the DEO (Ordinary Nominations): Between 9:00 a.m. (Pacific time) on Day 6, and 1:00 p.m. (Pacific time) on Day 10 of the election period Certificates of candidacy will be issued by DEO once nomination is complete

6 Withdrawal of a Candidate
Deadline changed to 48 hours before the beginning of advance voting (previously general voting)
