B. “That the Superintendent establish a plan to ensure that grades and honor roll lists reflect substantially elevated academic expectations and that, for all courses, parents and students have information that explicitly informs them of a student’s achievement level compared to that student’s peers” While politely worded, the intent was to curb grade inflation and ensure that student academic performance was accurately communicated to both the students and their parents. Did it work?

“This fall* we were asked by the school committee to review our grading process to determine grade inflation possibilities. After reflection, fact finding, and discussion, NAMS’ faculty surmised that grade inflation was minimal, but grade consistency was an area for improvement.” Let’s see … * Fall 2005
