1 Grab binders, handouts & Returned Work Begin the Do Now
1. If particles are moving around quickly and randomly, do they have high or low kinetic energy? 2. Which state of matter has the highest kinetic energy? 3. Describe the particle motion if you know the particles have low kinetic energy. 4. Which state(s) of matter is incompressible?

2 Recap Key Point 1: 3 states of matter Key Point 2: Kinetic Energy Key Point 3: Define solid Key Point 4: Define liquid Key Point 5: Define gas Particle Diagrams

3 While you watch… Write down which state of matter you think the substance shown in the video best represents. Jot down your reasoning!

4 Slime Lab Purpose Question: Which state of matter is slime? Determining Purpose: - WHAT is the experiment about? - HOW will you fulfill the purpose?

5 Quick Purpose Practice
Directions: Write down the purpose based off the following lab question. Question: What is the relationship between the volume and temperature of a gas? What grade would your purpose get if it was purely based off this question? In other words, what’s missing?

6 Slime Lab Purpose, Pre-Lab, & Hypothesis
Directions: In the next 15 minutes… Complete your purpose, pre-lab, and hypothesis for the Slime Lab. Be sure to read through any background information to help write the purpose and determine your hypothesis.

7 Slime Lab Clean Up Wash off spoons and leave in the hood
Throw away and excess Borax solution down the sink Throw away slime Throw away all used cups Wipe down your lab bench countertop Return Borax assignments to the hood Clean and store weigh boats back at weigh station

8 Slime Lab Report Directions:
For the next 20 minutes, work on completing the lab report for the slime lab. Don’t forget the proper sections: - Title & Name - Purpose - Pre-lab - Hypothesis (what you think and why) - Data - Post-Lab Questions - Conclusion (RERUN)

9 Debrief Solids Liquids Gases

10 Complete Exit Ticket 3 to the best of your abilities without notes.

11 Phase Transitions Brainstorm
Solid to liquid (ice to liquid water): Liquid to solid (liquid water to ice): Liquid to gas (liquid water to steam): Gas to Liquid (steam to liquid water): Gas to solid and solid to gas?
