Introduction See of the Shine frolicsomely delineates the batsman’s experience of facing different kind of balls. The fast bowlers threaten the batsman by their bouncers, beamers and seamers, and sometimes hit him on the head or shoulders. The slip fielders cluster around him like vultures to pounce upon the ball as it comes in their direction. The new ball hits the batsmen on the elbow and wrist. So fast bowling is a real threat. The ball is turning quickly away from the bat and the bowler makes continuous appeal to the umpire. Spinners come, which gives relief to the batsmen. This is anti-climax. The batsman loses his wicket. The poem humorously describes the game of cricket.
