Study flow diagram. GPs and internists were randomly assigned to clinical vignettes presenting the benefit of a hypothetical lipid-lowering drug therapy, ‘neostatin’, in terms of number needed to treat (NNT) to prevent one incident of cardiovascular disease after 24 years of therapy, or gain in disease-free survival on lifelong therapy.
