SHIFTED double page spread
Analysis and progress
2
I have begun to create my double page spread for my music magazine, SHIFTED.
Firstly, I decided to split the two sides in a clear half, as so make sure I did not loose and text or images in the crease. I then added a cream coloured background, similar to the one I used on my contents page. I then added another rectangle, however, I used the stroke effect and the inner shadow, as this makes it pop out of the page and draw attention to this area, as this will be where my article will be placed. I then added the image of the two artists on the left hand side, with their bands name 'CARTER' across the top. I used the font and coloured the 'A' in a pastel pink, like I have done when using their name in other areas in my music magazine. Lastly, I felt as if their name did not stand out as much as it could so I used the eraser tool and removed some of the image where their name is placed, thus stopping it from fading into the background and not reminding the reader of the band.

I have now added some text boxes and began to create the structure of what my double page spread will eventually look like. I have split the article into three different sections as this makes it generally more interesting to look at and to aid the readers, in reading. I have also used a scroll across the bottom of the page as this will be where I place the page numbers, I have seen this used in many other music magazines double page spreads, and thought it worked better, rather than having it in the corner hidden away. My music magazine's masthead 'SHIFTED' has also been included as it helps to link back to the cover and contents page, I also find that it is a very essential feature of my music magazine thus, I feel it should be included somewhere on each page. Some text boxes have also been included, for example, I have used two black and opaque boxes across the image of the artists; this will be used for the call out.

My article has now been placed on the page
My article has now been placed on the page. I have structured it with images and call out from what the artists and the interviewer are speaking about, as this not only interests the reader into looking further into what has been said, but also aids them into where to find certain points and certain questions/information that they would like to know about the artists, rather than reading the whole thing. I have used images of the artists to aid with this also. I bolded the first letter of my article, as this is something I have seen very frequently throughout music magazines, especially Q. Thus, to keep with my genre or just to make sure I include music magazine features, I used this also. I included a catchy, possibly witty, introduction to the article at the top of the rectangle. Thus, intriguing the readers to what is going on in this article, it also fits with the genre also as many indie-rock magazines include, sarcastic or humorous introductions or anecdotes.
