At postnatal days 1 and 7 there are no differences between the control and nicotine groups. The %Density/mg protein of control lung of all the isoenzymes at postnatal days 14, 21, and 49 were lower (P<0.01) than that of the lungs of the nicotine exposed rats.

At postnatal days 1, 14, 21 and 49 the LDH-1/LDH-5 ratios of control lungs were higher (P<0.01) than for the lungs of the nicotine exposed rats. No difference was observed at postnatal day 7 (P>0.05).
