Wood bug Experiment
2
Pill bugs or wood bugs can be found in any sort of damp, humid locations. They are commonly found in moist areas such as under logs, under leaves, or under rocks. They live in these areas because they are crustaceans. This means that they have gill-like organs and need be in moist surroundings to survive. The two most common places to find them are close to the ocean or in a forest. Observation page

hypothesis If we put the pill bugs in the box with apples and oranges, then they will go to the oranges.

Procedure list 1. Put box on flat surface gently.
2. Put 4 orange pieces on one side of the box and 3 apple pieces on the other side of the box. (this is because apples chunks are bigger then orange) 3. Put Wood bugs in middle of the box and set a timer for 5 minutes. 4. Start the timer and once the 5- minutes runs out, record the number of Wood bugs that go to each side or if they didn’t move at all. Write down the results on a piece of paper with a writing utensil. 5. Repeat the experiment three times.

Qualitative observations
In our experiment we used apples and oranges and asked which fruit would a wood bug be more attracted to. Each time we found that the wood bugs were more attracted to the oranges. We had an even amount of wood bugs. The wood bugs stood around the starting place for a good amount of time. Qualitative observations

In conclusion our hypothesis was correct as we stated that more Wood bugs would go to more oranges instead of apples. As you can see from our data table everyone of our three trials ended up with more Wood bugs going to oranges each time. An error we had in our experiment was accidently putting sources of shade in our box were the experiment was conducted as most Wood bugs went to the shade instead of going to either of the two fruits so next time we should remove all forms of shade. Because of our experiment you could deduce that staying out of light is a higher priority for Wood bugs than getting food. So next time we could use foods that have a stronger smell like durian fruit or meat. Conclusion
