Rhyme Rhyme – the repetition of the same ending sound in two or more words Internal rhyme – rhymes within the lines End Rhyme – rhymes at ends of lines Partial Rhyme – words whose final consonant sounds ALMOST rhyme Complete Rhyme – words whose final syllables have the EXACT same sound

It can be serious or humorous It may or may not use rhyme or meter

Tips for writing your own Ode
Pick an ordinary thing (a car, a Ziploc bag, a burrito, chocolate, etc.) Give your subject praise or thanks (Oh, ____ thank you for ____) etc. Speak directly to the object Use vivid adjectives to describe it (use a thesaurus) Use verbs that bring that object to life (personification) Occasionally, use repeated lines
