Objectives Better understanding of how everything is connected.
Understand how everything you do stems from the world around you. Be able to connect this weeks readings and lectures. goes over objectives
4
1st Reading: Subculture the meaning of style
Everything is somehow connected. Nature changes and effects our culture. For example punk and reggae stem from each other. Punk came around because of the anti-war movements. For example punk came from the post-war working-class youth, combining elements from completely different cultures. -David Bowie (and other rock bands) pieced together artistic sources such as underground cinema. -Also incorporated reading from Rimbaud and William Burroughs. -The Clash was heavily influenced by reggae music, also by the visual iconography of black Jamaican street style.

2nd Reading: It’s all Wrong but It’s all Right
We use metaphors to convey our experiences. Emotions are expressed through music and dancing-stories behind songs. All types of music is related because there is a story behind it. Misunderstandings: creative mistakes. “We can never really know how the world looks or sounds through the eyes and ears of others” (George Lipsitz).
6
Connection How are the readings and this weeks lecture connected? Any other connections with other core subjects?

Discussion People have different interpretations of the same work.
When people try to update and restore music it cannot be done because each is individualized. You will never get the same view something because everyone is different.

Give them the rest of the time to do this
