1 Prognostic Impact of Preoperative Tumor Marker Levels and Lymphovascular Invasion in Pathological Stage I Adenocarcinoma and Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Lung  Tomonari Kinoshita, MD, Takashi Ohtsuka, MD, PhD, Masaya Yotsukura, MD, Keisuke Asakura, MD, PhD, Taichiro Goto, MD, PhD, Ikuo Kamiyama, MD, PhD, Sotaro Otake, MD, Atsushi Tajima, MD, PhD, Katsura Emoto, MD, PhD, Yuichiro Hayashi, MD, PhD, Mitsutomo Kohno, MD, PhD  Journal of Thoracic Oncology  Volume 10, Issue 4, Pages (April 2015) DOI: /JTO Copyright © 2015 International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer Terms and Conditions

2 FIGURE 1 Comparison of overall, recurrence-free, and disease-specific survival rates between patients with stage IA and IB AD (A–C) and SQ (D–F). AD, adenocarcinoma; SQ, squamous cell carcinoma. 3 FIGURE 2 Among less than or equal to 5 cm tumors without lymph node metastasis, the current stage IA ADs with high serum CEA levels, lymphatic permeation, or vascular invasion were classified into stage IB, whereas current stage IB ADs with these characteristics were upgraded to stage IC. All other ADs remain stage IA lesions according to the current TNM classification. Comparisons of overall (A), recurrence-free (B), and disease-specific survival status (C) among stage I AD patients were listed according to this modified classification. Comparisons of overall (D), recurrence-free (E), and disease-specific survival status (F) between stage IC and II AD patients were shown. AD, adenocarcinoma. CEA, carcinoembryonic antigen. Overall, recurrence-free and disease-specific survival curves for patients with stage I SQ according to the pathological stage (A–C).
