Does food give you energy?
Chapter 4: Cells and Energy Section 1: Chemical Energy and ATP Does food give you energy? Our bodies only get energy from food after the food is broken down. This is a chemical process, breaking down food molecules and releasing the energy in their bonds. Burning Marshmallow (YouTube Link)

Does food give you energy?
Chapter 4: Cells and Energy Section 1: Chemical Energy and ATP Does food give you energy? Almost all life on Earth depends on breaking down carbon-based molecules for food. The most important energy giving molecules are: Carbohydrates Lipids Proteins

ATP = “adenosine triphosphate” “adenine” “ribose” “tri-phospate”
Chapter 4: Cells and Energy Section 1: Chemical Energy and ATP In order to use the energy contained in food, our body converts the energy and stores it in ATP. ATP = “adenosine triphosphate” “adenine” “ribose” “tri-phospate” ATP

Chapter 4: Cells and Energy
Section 1: Chemical Energy and ATP By breaking the high-energy bond of the third phosphate, ATP is able to transfer energy to the machines of the cell If the third phosphate is removed, ATP becomes ADP (adenosine diphosphate) By breaking and reforming the third bond, the same ATP molecules are used and re-used over and over.
