2 Foreshadowing What is foreshadowing?
Definition: is the presentation in a work of literature of hints and clues that tip the reader off as to what is to come later in the work.

3 Imagery What is the base word in the word imagery? What is an image?
A picture Imagery is when you use the words the author has written to create a mental picture in your mind of the scenery.

4 Making Predictions Making a guess about what you will encounter in a text. What can you use to make a prediction of a story? Take a look at the cover of some of Gary Paulson’s other stories, what do you think some of those books are about? Take five minutes to skim over chapter one, what are some things you have predicted will happen just by looking over this chapter? What one word stands out the most in chapter one? Divorce is the word that stands out the most
