1 AVOID THIS PAIN IN THE NECK
SETTING THE MICROSCOPE TO WORK FOR YOU POSTURE CALIBRATING EYEPIECES Sit close to the work bench, with back straight and supported. Place both feet firmly on the floor. Thighs should be parallel to the floor with hips at the same level or slightly higher than knees. If the chair is too high, use the foot ring or a foot rest. Keep shoulders relaxed and elbows close to your sides. Rest arms on padded armrests or tabletop. Adjust chair and/or microscope height as needed to maintain an upright head position. Tilt or move the microscope close to the edge of the counter to avoid bending the neck. The specimen can be raised using a sturdy platform, such as a box or sandbag, so that it is centered within the focal plane of the microscope. Always support the specimen with your non-dominant hand. Remember to take plenty of breaks. Every 15 minutes, close your eyes or focus on something in the distance. Every minutes, get up to stretch and move. Turn on illumination Set DIOPTERS to zero With eyes about 0.5” away from EYEPIECES, adjust the distance between eyepieces until you see a single image ZOOM to the highest magnification Close the one eye and FOCUS until you get a sharp image Close the opposite eye and adjust the DIOPTER until you get a sharp image The microscope is now in focus and you can zoom out and begin working DIOPTERS EYEPIECES FINE FOCUS COARSE FOCUS ZOOM ADJUSTING SCOPE HEIGHT AND DISTANCE Our microscopes are mounted to the wall with an articulated boom.
