Accomplishments in 5G Two main goals: Coverage (LMLC) and Capacity
LMLC Coverage Low PAPR waveform –pi/2 BPSK with spectrum shaping Doubles UE power without change in hardware, translates to larger coverage Capacity Maximize spectrum utilization - bits/sec/Hz A new type of Advanced Massive MIMO/Cloud RAN developed 30th May 2018 Prof. Kiran Kuchi

pi/2-BPSK with Spectrum Shaping
BPSK data Pi/2 Constellation rotation 1+D Precoder M-point DFT IFFT CP Subcarrier mapping Pi/2 BPSK spectrally shaped signal behaves like a constant envelope signal within the OFDM symbol span 3.0 dB Tx power increase over QPSK for LTE PA Prof. Kiran Kuchi
5
Massive MIMO with Non-linear Precoding
Spectrum Efficiency: 10-60 bits/sec/Hz per sector (Mean: 40 bits/sec/Hz/sector) Throughput on 20 MHz: 800 Mbps per 90°sector Cell Throughput is 3.2 Gbps Maximum Energy Efficiency: 48 MIMO layers on 48 RF chains Prof. Kiran Kuchi
