“Summer Diamond Girl” Character Traits
Identify Toni’s character traits from “Summer Diamond Girl,” pp Post the character traits on a Corkulous board. Follow the directions below to complete the activity. Read “Summer Diamond Girl” on pages Make a list of FIVE character traits to describe Toni, the author of the essay, on the left side of the Evidence Chart. Quote parts of the text that show/tell you about Toni’s character on the right side of the Evidence Chart. Open the Corkulous App on the iPad by tapping it with your finger. Touch the filing cabinet in the bottom left-hand corner of the iPad screen. Select a yellow post-it, and type your full name, class period, and date on it. Select the tape, post-its, or index card option from the opened filing cabinet and type: Toni “Summer Diamond Girl” This posting should be larger and more visible than other items on the corkboard. Choose another option from the filing cabinet (tape, post-it, or index card) and type a character trait that describes Toni. You can choose the color, sizes, fonts, and where you want to position the items. Repeat Step 8 with a different character trait until you have posted FIVE character traits. Share your Corkulous board with your table, and then tap the arrow at the top right-hand corner. Tap “Send to Photos.” This task uses: iPad App Corkulous Common Core/NG Standard(s): CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.6.1 Cite textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.6.3 Describe how a particular story's or drama's plot unfolds in a series of episodes as well as how the characters respond or change as the plot moves toward a resolution.
