1 Warm-Up: No paper. Take the Book-Mind-Heart Sheet out of your folder. Turn it over to the back. Copy the following question on the lines for the High Order Thinking Question: Chapter 3: Which character from The Skin I’m In is most like Moana from “Moana’s Story?” Begin with a complete topic sentence that answers the question. Cite your evidence. Include evidence from the book and the article that supports your topic sentence. Use at least two pieces of evidence to support your answer.

Chapter 3: Which character from The Skin I’m In is most like Moana from “Moana’s Story?” Begin with a complete topic sentence that answers the question. Cite your evidence. Include evidence from the book and the article that supports your topic sentence. Use at least two pieces of evidence to support your answer. So, your final answer should be at least three sentences long (Topic sentence. Citation with evidence. Citation with evidence.)

C- Conversation: Whisper H- Help: Ask two in the group, then ask the teacher A- Activity: Work together to answer the High Order Thinking Question. All students write an answer on the back of the BMH sheet for chapter 3. Answers do NOT have to agree. All students work together to come up with an answer, but in the end, each student has a different responsibility: 1) topic sentence- does it answer the question and is it complete; 2) evidence #1- does it support the topic sentence; 3) evidence #2- does it support the topic sentence; 4) citation: are both pieces of evidence cited correctly. M- Movement: Stay in your seats (except to sharpen your pencil) P- Participation: Work together as a group.

13 Group Grade (Rubric) You will each start with ten points.
You will maintain points for being on-topic, making strong comments that add to the group discussion, Following CHAMPS for groups You will lose a point for any of the following: Not engaged Off-task behavior or discussion Disrespectful comments Not following CHAMPS for groups
