5 To significantly increase the volume of water (particularly fresh water) flowing from the Kaituna River into Ongatoro/Maketu Estuary by 2018 in a way that maximises the ecological and cultural benefits (particularly wetlands and kaimoana) while limiting the economic cost and adverse environmental effects to acceptable levels 20% of river flow + 20 ha new wetlands

10 Recent actions In 2016 the blessing for the commencement of the works was finally held. Tangata whenua groups have worked alongside regional council to support the works.

14 How will you be affected?
Ford Road closed until end of May – is open 7pm – 7am, but closed during the day Fishers that arrive at the road end before 7am can stay all day until the road re-opens at 7pm The boat ramp will be closed until 2020 Alternative boat ramps at Bell Rd and Maketū
