Early disclosure to the Working Group of patent information that might be relevant to the standard is essential to reduce the possibility for delays in the development process and increase the likelihood that the draft publication will be approved for publication. Please notify the Chair as early as possible, in written or electronic form, if patented technology (or technology under patent application) might be incorporated into a draft standard being developed within the IEEE Technical Advisory Group. 40 MHz BW Channelization Concern
Wi-Fi Alliance working 5 GHz Spectrum harmonization advocacy and common certification processes Regulatory domains (including Japan, Korea and the USA) all express concern about the effects of 40 MHz channel bandwidth In 2.4 GHz – coexistence with legacy as well as other 2.4 GHz technologies In 5 GHz – concerns with DFS with 40 MHz channel bandwidth IEEE needs to demonstrate that 40 MHz bandwidth will not cause coexistence issues and that DFS will be effective is requesting substantive documentation from .11 for presentation to regulators to alleviate concerns and avoid regulatory mandates The regulators have stated that they prefer that industry solve these issues so they do not have to take action Denis Kuwahara, Boeing
