2 Company Structure How we engage with our supply chain partners and how this key aspect has supported our business growth. Over 200 years old – 9th generation – MWJ at the helm, father Glyn Group Chairman. Since Mark’s appointment - set up three divisions with own SMT – essentially managed as separate entities - in their own right Currently employ over 280 members of staff. Turnover - £186m; Profit - £11m

Service Excellence Value Engineer Cost Saving Quality driven What are the benefits of engaging within the WJ supply chain ? Our supply chain management really came into play at our once flag ship development in Caernarfon – Doc Fictoria. [ details re: scheme] – positive engagement with our supply chain partners would be key to making this project a success. Really we had to go right back to basis and adopt a partnering appraoch to the scheme, rather than us and them mentality with the subcontractors. How did the cycle work? 88% of the subcontractors on this scheme were local to the development. Building and developing these relationships meant the contract exceeded the KPIs – and the over riding factor, providing service excellence to the Client. The packages – we were able to value engineer – ultimately provided cost and time saving to the contract. Driving Quality through the contract – wanted to pass on to our supply chain partners same sense of passion that we had for the scheme.

4 Supporting & Developing our Supply Chain Partners - Working Well together Campaign - CSCS accreditation – OSAT collaboration with Construction skills - Work programming - Health & Safety Training - Post contract review - Enable collaborative agreements, if required Widely report how the construction industry has been effected with the economic downturn. Important to guide our supply chain partners through this period. Allowed us to evaluate the effectiveness of our subcontractors. So how did we go about doing this? WWT campaign – develop awareness on H&S topics CSCS accreditation – 78% of our s/c are CSCS accredited. Assist with OSAT qualification – building NVQ portfolio’s. Dedicated Training Officer who supported this function. Programme their work across all division – ensure they do not over commit themselves – quality and build did not suffer. H&S Training – Tool box talks – In house training session PCRM – provide feedback on each contract – ensure corrective action is put in place for improvements – positive action applauded. On some scheme’s we allowed s/c to enter in agreements with other s/c - to boost the team to ensure work is carried out and completed on time.

Les has worked for WJ for the last 12 years – started off essentially as a one man band, now employees 25 To achieve this – how did we as a main contractor support him? Supported and developed his policies in H&S – his staff had site specific tool box talks Prime example of a s/c who has developed alongside our own business growth.
