3. Beginnings – Origin Myth
Capital: Cuzco
Incans are descendents of Inti, god of the sun
Inti had his son, Manco Capac to come up from Lake Titicaca, then founded the Incas

4. Early war
Expanded their empire until another tribe, The Chancas, attacked
Many fled but the ruler Yupanqui, stayed and fought, turning stones into warriors and winning
Renamed himself Pachacuti, expanding his empire further

5. Early Advances
Road system that connected entire empire through 5 modern-day countries (Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, Chile)
Social system only had three classes: Emperor, Nobles, and Commoners

6. Incan Women Married as early as 16 Chosen Women:
Young girls chosen from all villages, beautiful, talented, and honorable
Left to become religious servants, learned healing, praying, etc
At 15, worked in temples, convent teachers, or married noblemen
Some select few were sacrificed – a huge honor
