A mí me gusta… A mí (to me) is used only to emphasize that I like it.
Me (also to me) is required.

A ti te gusta… A ti (to you) is used only to emphasize that you like it. Te (also to you) is required. Singular and informal

A ella le gusta… A ella (to her) is used to clarify that SHE likes something. Le (to her, to him, to you) is required. The “ella” in “A ella” can be replaced with a single girl’s name.

A él le gusta… A él (to him) is used to clarify that HE likes something. Le (to her, to him, to you) is required. The “él” in “A él” can be replaced with a single boy’s name.

A Ud. le gusta… A Ud. (to you) is used to clarify that YOU like something. Le (to her, to him, to you) is required. Singular, formal you.

A nosotros nos gusta… A nosotros (to us) is used only to emphasize that we like it. Nos (to us) is required. If we want to clarify who “we” are, you can put: A (name or names) y a mí – but keep the NOS!

A vosotros os gusta… A vosotros (to y’all) is used only to emphasize that y’all like it. Os (to y’all) is required. If we want to clarify who “you” are, you can put: A (name or names) y a ti – but keep the OS!

A ellos les gusta… A ellos (to them) is used to clarify that THEY like something (boys/mixed group) Les (to them, to y’all) is required. The “ellos” in “A ellos” can be replaced with names or identifying nouns (like los chicos).

A ellas les gusta… A ellas (to them) is used to clarify that THEY like something (only girls). Les (to them, to y’all) is required. The “ellas” in “A ellas” can be replaced with names or identifying nouns (like las chicas).

A Uds. les gusta… A Uds. (to y’all) is used to clarify that YOU like something. Les (to them, to y’all) is required. If we want to clarify who “y’all” are, you can put: A (name or names) y a Ud. (or “a ti”) – but keep the LES! Only plural you, except in Spain.

GUSTA vs GUSTAN Remember: We use “gusta” with singular nouns and with infinitive verbs. We use “gustan” with plural nouns. ¡OJO! Careful, if it is followed by an infinitive verb, it does not matter if a plural noun comes AFTER that, it’s still “gusta”. Ejemplo: Me gusta practicar deportes.

Being Negative When we make a sentence with “gusta(n)” negative, the word “no” comes BEFORE the indirect object pronoun (me, te, le, etc) but AFTER the indirect object (if there is one). Ejemplo: A mí no me gusta.
