9 The Application Be sure to fill out the application completely
Include all requested forms such as transcripts, references, etc. Be aware of the criteria for the scholarship – financial need, grades, volunteering, etc. – and be sure to highlight those areas Be sure to follow directions on how and where to submit your application properly Plan ahead – gather all necessary documents early Submit your application on or before the deadline

Keep a file for your applications, reference letters, achievements, and essays Don’t wait until the last minute to contact someone for a reference letter Request transcripts early and know who is responsible for transcripts at your school A good resource to help you keep track of your high school accomplishments is Raise Me (

16 Scholarships through the Foundation
Application Deadline: Friday, March 29, 2019, 11:59 PM Raymond Gaines Scholarship - Award: $1, Requirements: Graduating student must attend any Seminole County public high school; possesses a 3.0 or higher GPA; has been accepted to a 4-year college or university; will pursue a degree in education or an education-related field; and must have completed or in the process of completing 25 hours of community service. Each applicant must submit a 300 (maximum) word typed essay that describes why the applicant wants to enter the teaching profession, and present one letter of recommendation each from a high school and community leader. Dede Schaffner Scholarship – Award: $3,000.00  Requirements: Graduating senior of any Seminole County High School, who has an overall (weighted) GPA of 3.5. The student must be planning to attend an accredited 4-year college or university or technical program. Must have performed community service during his/her high school career. Must submit a 500-word essay on future plans. Student must show financial need. Student must have qualified to receive a Bright Futures Scholarship (75% or 100%). Must have an employment history. Also submit three letters of recommendation from teachers or administrative staff

17 Foundation Scholarships (continued)
Kuiper Scholarship - Award: $2, Requirements: Graduating student of any Seminole County High School, who has an overall (weighted) GPA. Each applicant must submit two letters of recommendation from teachers and/or administrative staff. Selection should be based on academic performance and financial need. Frank J. Bracco Memorial Scholarship - Award: $2, Requirements: Graduating senior of any public high school in Seminole County who plans to enroll in a trade program or related field. The student must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, write an essay on their career goals and provide three letters of reference.
