The cell is the basic building block of all organisms
1. Cellular Organization multicellular unicellular The cell is the basic building block of all organisms
3
2. Contains chemicals of life:
water, carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, amino acids most abundant: water Lipids (fats) and proteins are the building materials of all cells.
4
All living things use energy for growth and repair.
3. Energy Use All living things use energy for growth and repair. Whether an organism is a producer, consumer, or decomposer, its energy ultimately comes from the sun.
5
4. Respond to Surroundings
stimulus: a change that causes a reaction response: an action or change in behavior
6
5. Growth and Development
Development: process of change that creates a more complex organism Growth: process of becoming larger
7
Sexual reproduction: requires two parents who combine genetic material
