Form small groups and answer each of the following questions, and then share your answers with the class.
• What are the main ideas of this chapter? How do these ideas help support the argument that the book is making as a whole?
• What are the key concepts/terms in this chapter? What do they mean?
• Are there any people that are detailed in this chapter? Who are they? Why do they stand out? Why do you think the author included them?
• What rhetorical strategies do the authors use in this text to try and forward their argument. For example, do they use ethos, logos, and pathos? If so, how do they do this? Provide example passages.
• What is your reaction to the points that the writers are making in this chapter? Why do you think that? Note that all group members should add their thoughts here.
• What issues brought up in the chapter do you think would make good class discussion questions?
