2 Selling Price(SP) = Marked Price (MP) – Discount(D)
Example 1:- Sarath marks his TV to be sold for Rs3,500 and gives a discount of Rs 400, then find the selling price of TV. Solution Given:- Marked Price(MP)=Rs 3500, Discount=Rs 400 To Find:- Selling Price(SP) of TV If Marked Price and Discount is given Selling Price can be calculated as follows Selling Price(SP) = Marked Price (MP) – Discount(D) = – 400 =3100 Ans: Selling Price of TV is 3100 SP = MP – D MP = SP + D D = MP - SP

3 Example 2:- Priya wants to sell Saree at a profit of Rs 500 which he bought for Rs 2500 after a discount of Rs 350. What is the marked price of the Saree? Solution Given:- Cost Price(CP)=Rs 2500 , Discount(D)=Rs 350,Profit (P)= Rs 500 To Find:- Marked price(MP) of saree Selling Price(SP) = Cost Price(CP) + Profit(P) = = 3000 If Selling Price and Discount is given Marked Price can be calculated as follows Market Price(MP) = Selling Price(SP) + Discount(D) = = 3350 Ans:- Marked price of saree is Rs 3350 CP = SP - P SP = CP + P SP = MP – D MP = SP + D D = MP - SP

Example3:- Vinod purchases a TV for Rs 24,000. She intends to sell it at a profit of Rs 1500 on sales and she Rs 28,000. What is the discount that he will give to his customer? Solution Given:- Cost Price(CP) = Rs 24000, Profit(P)= Rs 1500,Market Price(MP)=Rs 28000 To Find:- Dicount(D) Selling Price(SP) = Cost Price(CP) + Profit(P) = = 25500 If Marked Price and Selling Price is given Discount can be calculated as follows Discount(D) = Marked Price (MP) – Selling Price(SP) = – = 2500 Ans:- Discount = Rs 2500 CP = SP - P SP = CP + P SP = MP – D MP = SP + D D = MP - SP

Vinod offers his customers a discount of Rs 50 on each Shirt and still makes a profit of Rs 200 per shirt. What is he actual cost price of the vase if marked price is Rs 1500.
