Sorting Fact From Opinion No one disputes the official cause of Titanic’s sinking being the result of striking an iceberg. The deeper questions still frequently asked 100 years on are… Why was the iceberg never seen until so late? Could the reaction of the captain and crew have been better? Could it have been avoided? How did an ‘unsinkable’ ship sink? Why did more than half of all passengers die? Why did mainly wealthy people survive? Please read this lengthy but detailed account of the Titanic’s sinking and see if you can identify the FACTS (What we can prove to be true) and opinions (What people THINK happened.)
