1. D17 – Bellringer
Think of some current events for which it is the opportune moment in the Rhetorical Situation right now. Write down at least two, and explain why you believe right now is a good time to address these topics? Review: What does the Life Cycle of a Rhetorical Situation look like? Origin: Most are unfamiliar with the topic, it is just becoming something people are starting to discuss. Most do NOT have opinions about it yet. Maturity: Issues are becoming defined, people are discussing the issue (Kairos is here) Deterioration: Moment of influence is passed (referendum, vote, etc. done), solutions may be starting to be implemented. Positions are well established Disintegration: Change is ingrained. Decisions made and put into action. Other issues on people’s minds.

2. Quiz:
Just FYI, we WILL be having a quiz next time, so make sure you are prepared. Review your logical fallacies, reading, material we’ve discussed in class, etc.

3. Note:
We have a possible shirt! It will cost us $17, but it is a nice polo shirt. It would have saved us just $5 for a T-shirt , so I think a polo makes more sense (it can be semi-professional or casual, depending on what we want).
I will let you see the design when I get it. It will be maroon, with a Merit logo and the words “Merit Academy” above and “Speech & Debate” below
