Why we cant use them The trajectory of the rifle bullet is to much. This causes the bullet to travel very far before losing all its energy. The reason Delaware cant use them is because the land is to flat so the bullet goes very far before stopping. The bullet may pass threw an object and still cause damage.

Why we should use low-powered rifles. Unlike high-powered rifles, low powered dont travel near as far. Most modern shotgun and muzzle loading cartridges have just about the same velocity and trajectory as most low powered rifles.(44.mag, 30-30, 45-70). A very good use for these rifles are for crop- damage. People are only allowed to hunt the fields so they are able to shoot long ranges with many reloads.

Why we should use low-powered rifles. Since they have close to if not the same trajectory as modern muzzle loaders they should be allowed if muzzle loaders are. There should be a season added in order to hunt with them. This could also control the deer population better because most are bolt or semi- automatic. While a muzzleloader is one shot

Seasons Rifles should be allowed during all shotgun seasons. Not during muzzleloader though, due to the fact thats its a tradition. There should also be another season added. This would bring in more money, decrease deer population and decrease poaching.

Low-Power Rifle Usage in DE Dear Jack Markel, and Danny Short In Delaware, rifles are not permitted s hunting weapons. There are a few reasons for this. One of the main reasons is that many high-powered rifles such as a 270. Or a 30-06 has a very flat trajectory. This causes the bullet to travel very far distances without dropping. This concerns people because, unlike areas where rifles are allowed such as Pennsylvania, Delaware has very flat land. This means that people s health can be in danger, even if you re so far away that you can t see them. Also so people can t shoot deer at very long distances, some people declare hunting unethical. Although in my eyes, certain rifle calibers with certain cartridges should be allowed in Delaware. I say these because some rifle bullets have no flatter trajectory then the modern muzzle loading rifle and many shotgun cartridges. In the past 20 years many muzzleloader and shotgun cartridges have developed to shoot at flat trajectories and high velocities. So far we have not had any problem with the use of these cartridges. Some rifle cartridges that could be used is.44,.44 magnum, 45-70 and 30-30. So what basically I m saying is, why shouldn t rifles with no difference in trajectory and velocity, be allowed in Delaware. There would be many advantages to this. It would bring more I money into Delaware because I believe many more people would hunt. Also it would decrease the deer population. This would decrease car/ deer interactions which cost money and that would also decrease the amount of crop damage by deer. You also have to buy crop damage permits so that would bring more money into the state. So ask yourself, why you wouldn t allow certain rifle cartridges to be used during the Delaware deer hunting season? From, Zac Truitt Mark Spicer Nick Gray
