1 Use of Elastic Registration in Pulmonary MRI for the Assessment of Pulmonary Fibrosis in Patients with Systemic Sclerosis Areas of marked lung shrinkage during expiration MRI were found in the posterior lung bases of healthy volunteers and in participants with systemic sclerosis without fibrosis, but not in subjects with fibrosis.  The sensitivity and specificity of MRI for presence of fibrosis at high-resolution CT were 86% and 75%, respectively (area under the curve, 0.81). Chassagnon G et al. Published Online: Mar 5, 2019   Marked shrinkage areas (in red) are found in the lung bases in healthy volunteers and in those with systemic sclerosis (SSc) without evidence for fibrosis. The lungs of participants with evidence for SSc-related fibrosis at CT show little deformation (in green).
