2 Growing and Changing Changes are a normal part of adolescence.
Adolescence is the stage of life between childhood and adulthood. Usually beginning somewhere between the ages of Many of the changes you will experience are brought on by Hormones. Are the chemical substances produced by certain glands that help to regulate the way your body functions. A gland is a group of cells or an organ that secretes hormones and/or powerful chemical substances that the body needs. The release of hormones helps to prepare your body for adulthood.

3 The Endocrine System The hormones that cause the physical and emotional changes are produced by your endocrine system. Endocrine system: consists of glands throughout the body that regulate body functions. Produces hormones that go directly into the bloodstream Carried to different parts of the body to control various functions Ex. regulate growth, help digest food, adjust salt and water levels

5 Physical Development Puberty: is the time when you develop physical characteristics of adults of your own gender. Growth spurt of puberty starts physical growth occurs at a rapid pace. Girls grow 2-8 inches between the ages of 11-14 Boys usually begin their growth spurt later than girls do. But will grow 4-12 inches, between the ages of 13-16 Even after the growth spurt is complete both genders will continue to grow for several more years.
